Service Description

Most Kyoto tours rush you from temple to temple. This one doesn’t. We start at Shirakawa — a narrow canal where the water moves quietly, willows trail their branches into the current, and the neighborhood around it hasn’t changed much in a hundred years. En route, we ride past the great torii gate of Heian Shrine — its vermillion glowing through the trees, one of Kyoto’s most recognisable landmarks. From there, we ride toward Nanzen-ji, one of Kyoto’s greatest Zen temples, where you’ll climb the towering Sanmon gate and look out over a sea of treetops — then discover a 19th-century brick aqueduct hidden inside the grounds that stops everyone in their tracks. The afternoon ends at the Kamo River. You’ll cross on the famous stepping stones, then settle in for a proper do-nothing break — Japanese sweets, the sound of the river, and a lounger that inflates with nothing but the breeze. The route changes with the seasons — but the calm, the quiet, the ease never do. Highlights - Ride alongside a willow-lined canal through a neighborhood that still feels like old Kyoto — quiet water, old shopfronts, and a heron that never seems to be in a hurry - Explore Nanzen-ji — climb its towering gate for a treetop view, then find a Meiji-era brick aqueduct hidden inside the grounds - Cross the Kamo River on the famous tobi-ishi stepping stones - Drift into a slow riverside afternoon — Japanese sweets, the sound of moving water, and nothing on the agenda - Small group only — never more than 8 guests

About Me

Beyond the Guidebooks, Into the Heart of Kyoto “After a decade in the tourism industry, I’ve realized that the best of Kyoto isn’t found on a map—it’s felt in the silence of a morning temple and seen in the backstreets where the tour buses don’t go. In 2025, I founded 月阿弥(YUAMI) to bring back the 'human touch' to travel. As your local host, my mission is simple: to share the stories, the Zen, and the authentic pulse of my city with the care and expertise of a 10-year veteran. I don't just show you Kyoto; I help you live it.”
